Learning outcomes
- Explain the importance of biosecurity and assess the potential impact of disease outbreaks in equids. Learners will be able to explain broadly the causes and transmission of infectious diseases in equids and identify key signs of infection. Additionally, learners will be able to explain zoonotic diseases and apply precautions to prevent their spread.
- Assess disease risk and implement key biosecurity measures, including hygiene, isolation, quarantine, and vector control to reduce the introduction and spread of disease in equids. Learners will also be able to explain the role of vaccination and demonstrate how animal health workers can prevent disease spread through proper protocols.
- Deliver a session to a community or project team, covering key aspects of biosecurity, using accessible language and locally relevant examples. Learners will also be able to address cultural misconceptions and encourage positive behaviour change through effective community engagement strategies
