Learning outcomes

• Recognise that working equids have feelings and explain why working equids are important to people and communities in low- and middle-income countries. Learners will be able to check if an equid is healthy and well using simple welfare signs and identify and address harmful practices.
• Advocate for the equid’s perspective by explaining how an equid’s view of the world through their senses may impact their behaviour. Learners will also be able to explain how language can be used to promote equid welfare.
• Deliver a session to a community or project team, covering key aspects of equid welfare and sentience, using accessible language and locally relevant examples. They will also be able to address cultural misconceptions and encourage positive behaviour change through effective community engagement strategies.
