Learning outcomes

• Understand and use the Triadan system.
• Recognise normal and abnormal dental anatomy.
• Determine age through the teeth.
• List the components of the oral examination (intra and extra oral).
• Perform a complete oral examination.
• Recognise the clinical signs of oral and dental disease.
• Select the instruments and equipment necessary to perform basic orodental treatments.
• Recognise the importance of dental problems in equids, including working equids (developmental 
• and/or acquired) and select appropriate treatments.
