INTC103 - Equid Dentistry for Veterinary Students
This course is designed to support veterinary students and to increase their knowledge about equid dentistry. Dental disease is a prevalent health and welfare concern for equids, and much emphasis is placed upon quality prophylaxis from an early age.
We hope that you will gain a broad understanding of the topics included in each module, and how working with reliable information can make a big difference for the health and welfare of the equids in our care.

Outcomes for this course:
- Understand and use the Triadan system
- Recognise normal and abnormal dental anatomy
- Determine age through the teeth
- List the components of the oral examination (intra and extra oral)
- Perform a complete oral examination
- Recognise the clinical signs of oral and dental disease
- Select the instruments and equipment necessary to perform basic orodental treatments
- Recognise the importance of dental problems in equids, including working equids (developmental and/or acquired) and select appropriate treatments
