Equid Dental Instrumentation
In the fourth of our equid dental courses, we explore the most common instrumentation available. The development of new instruments and techniques necessitates education on appropriate selection for the professional, the patient (be they mule, horse or donkey) and or the procedure in addition to awareness of safety, proper use and maintenance. With thorough awareness, professionals can perform more precise corrective procedures with increased patient and operator safety and less physical effort.

An increase in demand for dental treatment has in turn created a growing market for instrumentation. Accordingly, manufacturers have responded to demand by developing a variety of new and innovative instruments as well as improving existing equipment. There is now, overwhelming choice for professionals, with many manufacturers offering thousands of products.

Each topic/module will conclude with a short quiz. It is anticipated this course will require in the region of 7 hours including delivered material, student-centered learning, and assessments.
Learning Objectives:
1. Describe common equid dental instrumentation.
2.Design protocols for instrument care and maintenance
3. Evaluate theoretical concepts/principles to use instrumentation appropriately.
Prerequisites
- Completion of Equid Dental Disorders (DENT103) would be of benefit.
- Language; a good standard of English
- ‘A’ Level biological science or vocational equivalent
- Computer access, with sound
- Be able to access the internet and navigate webpages
